Getting your young son or daughter a toy electric guitar to pose with in front of a mirror and prance around like a rock star is fun way to get them accustomed to holding a guitar. But if your little one is serious about learning the instrument, you can generally buy some relatively inexpensive beginner guitars to see if they will stick with it. If they do, then a real electric guitar a couple of years down the road would be a good incentive to keep them practicing.
