Cat are very clean animals, but when they use their box, they are bound to kick some litter out it, and onto the floor. This is not necessarily a big problem: you can sweep the area around the box regularly. But if your house or apartment is carpeted, dirt and odor from the litter can get into your carpet. An easy solution would be to get what they call a catcher mat and place under the cat’s box. It is a simple mat that, if designed well, can not only protect you carpet, but stop any bits of litter from rolling far from the box.
